iPhone 3G and iOS4 Suckey combo

I have'nt been able to listen to MacOS Ken on a consistant basis for a while.  I heard Ken mention it once Apple was looking into 3G problems of slowness and heat issues once the phone is upgraded to iOS4.

Anybody have a fix?  The Genius Bar swapped my phone to one with iOS3, but that only worked for a few days.  I wasn't paying attention and my clicking allowed iTunes to update the replacement phone to 4.

I have tried all kinds of things.  Restoring to a backup prior to the release of 4, mutliple hard resets, and force quits.  Nothing really pulls the phone out of MOLASSES mode.  I'm ready to cut and run to an Android!  I still have all of my other Apple products to keep me happy.

Instructions for rolling back iOS 4 on the 3G are all over the place.  Try looking at http://www.macworld.com/article/152428/2010/06/roll_back_iphone_3g.html
