As promised on an episode of “Mac OS Ken” and alluded to on an episode of “In a Few Minutes,” here’s a bit of art-type-stuff. Never feel comfortable saying “art” when it’s something I’ve made, even though I’ve made stuff since I was a kid.
Perhaps it’s my discomfort with saying it’s “art” that dictates the medium. I tend to work in paper on discarded boxes or blank cards. These are meant to be sent to friends. I still write letters. Maybe I work small on things I can send to people to hide from the “art” moniker.
Whatever the case, I started working earlier this year with paper weaving. Not everything I’ve done is here, but I’m sort of fond of these. So please, enjoy. Hover over a pic to learn more about it. And thanks.

I have a couple of friends with COVID-19 - one diagnosed, one tele-diagnosed. Both have suffered symptoms. With them and the frontline workers and all of it on my mind, I grabbed this Agence France Press photo from a Business Insider article, played with a few filters and effects, and wove away.
Continuing with paper weaving and working “through” COIVD-19 concerns, I added an underwhelming, translucent collage flower to a COVID-19 X-ray found online.
Around the time I started playing with paper weaving, I was thinking about “romance.” How an individual can simply be minding their own when another crashes in - seemingly from outer space. I know. This is the reverse of that. But still.
This astronaut image was originally for the “romance” studies. What I wonder in this one: Is he blocking the stars? Or are the stars within him?
I like the tight weave on the one, though I’m not happy with the message. There really isn’t one - just a general “bad things are afoot.” This was made early in the year. Not a reaction to the unrest that’s rocked May and June.
Breaking again from the weaving. The countries would have been lost in the tight weave seen in “Local Crime Scene.” Still, I liked the contrasting shades and hues. Again, no particular message. Just… working.
