I’m not usually big on “behind the scenes” or making of stuff where modern movies are concerned. I think that’s because so much of what happens on a lot of modern film happens on computers. That is not to take away from the films. For me personally though, it takes a way of bit of the “behind the scenes” interest.
Did you watch The Tragedy of Macbeth this weekend? Yes, part of me wishes I’d seen it in the theatre. At the same time, I’m happy to still be COVID free. The film is stunning. Well acted. Beautifully designed. Beautifully shot. It’s available now on Apple TV+. If you head over to YouTube, you can also watch a 13-minute featurette, “The Tragedy of Macbeth — Making the Film.” I think that’s another reason the “behind the scenes” things leave me flat. You usually get two-to-five minutes. 13-minutes on this, I’m gonna say it, masterpiece. Takes from casting, from production design, from costuming, from photography, from the visual effects director, because yeah - there’s tons of computer stuff in this film, even if it doesn’t look like it. I thought the film was striking. The “making of” is fascinating. As mentioned earlier - The Tragedy of Macbeth is available now on Appel TV+. You can catch the “making of” video below.
