No offense to the Producers Guild, the Writers Guild, or the Guild of Gaffers and Best Boys, but we’re headed into the high-end of awards season, it seems. The Mac Observer says nominations are out for this year’s British Academy Film Awards, known as BAFTAs because they’re put on by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
You know, back in the day that had to sound weird. But now, streaming services are getting movie nominations, so who knows? Maybe BAFTA was just ahead of its time.
Of course, we’re talking about them here because three Apple TV+ films have garnered five nominations. CODA has generated three BAFTA nominations, including one for Emilia Jones for Leading Actress, one for Troy Kotsur for Supporting Actor, and one for Siân Heder for Adapted Screenplay. As for the other two, Mahershala Ali has been nominate for his lead role in Swan Song, while Bruno Delbonnel has been nominated for Cinematography on “The Tragedy of Macbeth”.
The British Academy Film Awards will be presented on Sunday 13 March.
