Blair in West Hollyweird (as he's fond of saying) sent me an email that could be huge. Not the email, but the subject. Here's what he wrote:
Well I think Apple has left an obvious clue that apps are coming to Apple TV. I was looking under classic movies and for Holidays it has SNOW SPORTS - Apps & Games. There is nothing for sale when you click on it... But I thought that an interesting little bit of info.So I lunged for my Apple TV remote and my iPhone. Here's what I found when I went Movies> Genres> Classics> Holiday Music, Movies, and More (third row down):
Just as Blair said in his email, there is nothing for sale when one clicks on one of these tiles, nor is there even anything displayed (and inexplicably nothing under the tile for "A Celtic Christmas" either). And yet it sure seems as if Apple has plans for apps for Apple TV very soon. How popular will "Holiday Cooking Apps" be 16 days from now?
Much to puzzle over here. Will these be apps for the television? Or will Apple use Apple TV as an ad platform for iOS apps? Apple has not opened Apple TV to the developer community at large. If these are apps for the television, who has Apple tapped for the first round?
Cool thing about these puzzles, they should be solved in the next few days.
