Maryland Becomes Second State with ID in Apple Wallet

26 MAY 2022 - What do Maryland and Arizona have in common? As of yesterday, they are the two states in the union that’ll let people put their drivers licenses and state IDs in Apple Wallet. MacRumors says the “Old Line State” let residents know Wednesday that they can add the IDs to their iPhone and Apple Watch, and use them… almost nowhere. “For now,” the piece says:

…IDs in the Wallet app can only be presented at select TSA checkpoints at select U.S. airports, with Apple advising travelers to check TSA checkpoint signage to confirm availability.

The state also stresses that law enforcement will not accept licenses or IDs in the Wallet app. “…residents must continue to carry their physical driver's license or ID card with them,” according to the report.
