Uber Drops Support for Apple Watch App (But Not the App Itself?)

On the same day of praise for Services and the App Store, people have noticed that one sizable app has quietly slipped off of Apple Watch. MacRumors says the app for the ride hailing service Uber no longer works for hailing rides. In fact, it sounds like it doesn’t work for anything, even though one can still add it to Apple Watch. “Curiously,” says the report:

…Uber has not removed the Uber Apple Watch app from the App Store. The app is still able to be downloaded and installed on an Apple Watch, but opening it up reveals a poorly-worded message about dropped support, ending with a sad face emoji.

“Uber is now suggesting that Apple Watch users swap over to the ‌iPhone‌ app to request an Uber ride,” according to MacRumors
