Update: Is CVS Getting the iPad or Pulling a TJ Maxx?

Twitter guy johnnyboy628 sent this my way. What's with the fine print?  I've got a call in to CVS corporate. If I find out anything, I'll let you know.

Twitter guy johnnyboy628 sent this my way. What's with the fine print?  I've got a call in to CVS corporate. If I find out anything, I'll let you know.

Update - 12/2/2010

So this gets a bit more odd/interesting/annoying. I called CVS corporate yesterday and was asked by the woman with whom I spoke to send the above picture. I did so, saying in the email:

Basically I got this picture set to me from a listener. In the fine print the issuer of the coupon (presumably CVS) says the 20% discount being offered does not include the iPad. This left us both confused. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

About the show:

Mac OS Ken is a daily podcast covering Apple news and news related to Apple news. The show celebrates five years of daily coverage in January of 2011. It's downloaded by thousands of people a day, all of whom would - I'm sure - be as interested as I am in why the iPad is listed on the coupon.

Thanks for your time and your consideration.

24-hours later, here was the response:

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your email.  At this time, we have no comment.

So. Will CVS be getting the iPad? Seems unlikely that they will in any sort of official capacity. Are they, as I asked in the headline, pulling a TJ Maxx? Buying a few iPads to place in random CVS stores in the hope that word will get out that CVS has iPads, though perhaps in quantities as limited as those employed by TJ Maxx if not more so? Or will CVS have no iPads whatsoever, but hope that people (like me) will say "what gives?" and give CVS free publicity?

If that's what they're doing, they win. Which bums me out.

Report: Branson's "Project" to Take on Murdoch's "Daily" as Early as 30 Nov.

NOTE: This was written fairly early on in the "Project" story cycle. Turned out not to be completely accurate. Not sure why I'm leaving it on the page actually. And yet I seem to be. Ahimsa.

If you’re interest has been piqued by talk of Rupert Murdoch’s tablet-only news venture “The Daily” then keep your eyes on New York City Tuesday. A second, big billionaire is said to be either announcing a similar venture or launching one then.

Yahoo news says British tycoon, flight enthusiast, and major Virgin shareholder Sir Richard Branson is set to do something today in the big Apple around “Project,” which looks like it’ll be his version of “The Daily,” except his will be called “Project.”

I guess it could be "Pro-JECT."

"Project," formerly known as “Maverick,” will reportedly cover international culture, entertainment, business, travel, and design. We may know more about it tomorrow.

Here's a list of the gift ideas from Tuesday, November 23's Mac OS Ken: Live. Happy Black Friday.

The NAJA King was talked up by three callers. (See George Starcher demo the NAJA King Coil on YouTube HERE!)

Caller Eric and I are wearing the smarTouch gloves from Isotoner.

Eric also likes the Showcase cases from Contour Designs. (Huge discount for the Showcase on Amazon)

Mac OS Ken listener Tom produces the X-Band iPad holder. It's neat.

Tim tells of gifts from The Mothership - AKA Apple HQ - without visiting The Mothership available at The Missing Bite.

Tim was also into the ModuLR line of cases for iPads.

Another Mac OS Ken listener (his name escapes me) makes the Hardcase for iPad. Check it out.

George is a fan of the tuneLinkauto from New Potato Technologies.

Lon found some bands to turn the new iPod nano into a watch.

Steve was a fan of the FlashMic high-end digital recorder.

Steve is also fond of the WAVES Plug-ins for audio professionals.

Have an old iPod gathering dust? Turn it into a recorder with the handheld Alesis ProTrack.

You could also try the Belkin GoStudio Recorder.

For the kids or for the kid in you, the Tinkertoy Classic Jumbo set and/or the Lego Ultimate Building Set (405 pieces!).
